Website Dedication
To the following Officers and Enlisted Personnel KIA in Vietnam

Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on the snow. I am the sunlight on the ripened grain, I am the autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

The above listed Officers and Enlisted men gave their lives while performing the duties of Air Evacuation Crew Members for the 498th Air Ambulance, in Vietnam. Knowing on a daily basis that they were exposing their lives to enemy fire, they  proudly and eagerly went about their duties. We that survived will forever hold them in our memories.

The following verse was written by JIm Van Doren; he served with the unit in QuiNhon.  The verse was published in the Stars & Stripes, and he asked that it be dedicated to: Spec5 Gilivado Martinzez and PFCs William Esposito & Orin Allred, who gave their all on 11 November 1965.

                                                   "Why Me"

It seems to me that, to be free

it must be we who cross the sea.

Though some have tried, the other side

won't let us hide while we try to decide-

If we can stay at home and say "Just keep away"

                                           and then hope and pray

that our procrastination will help another nation

ensure the preservation of self -determination.

But a policy of evasion never stopped an invasion, so:

It seems to me that, to be free

It must be we who cross the Sea.
